I had recently read about bock style beers online and wanted to try one so I picked up a sixer of this little guy. I was immediately disappointed that it was a twist off (usually not a good sign) and once in the glass it was a shade better than the BMC I had had in college. Sorry to put one of your favorites down, but I didn't like it. However, I am very glad that you do. That is the great thing about beer, there are so many styles and brands that everyone can find one they like. And because they like it it doesn't make it a good or bad beer, it just makes it a good or bad beer to them. Thanks again for all the great reviews. Keep them coming.

Dustin
Flagstaff Daily Photo
http://flagstaffphoto.blogspot.com

PS I am not in Texas (obviously), so maybe that is why no soft spot exists for me on this one. :-)Dustinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13319475652011081522noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8120973771560567316.post-23998592572873204262009-02-17T16:57:00.000-06:002009-02-17T16:57:00.000-06:00Shiner Bock puts Mich amber bock to shame.Shiner Bock puts Mich amber bock to shame.Red Icculushttp://red-icculus.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8120973771560567316.post-44290901573611537512008-09-29T17:44:00.000-05:002008-09-29T17:44:00.000-05:00i love Shineri love ShinerAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8120973771560567316.post-58517174863308258362008-05-23T20:29:00.000-05:002008-05-23T20:29:00.000-05:00I think I'd give it a little better rating than yo...I think I'd give it a little better rating than you did, but I couldn't agree more (living in central Texas and being a dark beer fan) that Shiner is the old 'stand-by.' How the hell does that happen? Grow up in rural Texas and gain an affinity for flavorful beer? At least when the liquor store is closed, I can go to the gas station and get a six pack of Shiner. Try some Young's Double Chocolate, Chimay (Blue Label)-- my favorite, and of course Honey Brown is another favorite standby, like Shiner.
